Automated External Defibrillators

The use of AEDs is accessible to all and no longer only to medical and paramedical pros.

It is a proven fact that AEDs save lives. A short but complete training is necessary to understand how they work and how to use them. Ventricular Fibrillation is responsible for 80% of sudden heart failures. Ventricular fibrillation is an anarchic electrical activity of the heart which prevents it from accomplishing its pumping function correctly. The heart is no longer able to make the blood flow through the body.

By sending electricity through the heart, the AED tries to reorganize the heart’s electrical activity, and therefore to re-establish its original and efficient pumping function.

It is a known fact that the success of defibrillation is a direct function of the delay for implementing it. Defibrillation looses 10% of its efficiency every minute that passes.

It is the combination of Basic Life Support and early defibrillation that saves lives.

This is why Taleda offers a specific training programme to the use of AED which includes BLS training and if necessary, consulting services for selecting an AED.

This training programme lasts 2 - 4 hours.

It is tailored for groups of 8 to 12 persons and addresses the following topics:

  • Cardiac arrest.
  • Chain of survival.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Automatic External Defibrillator.
